About Mathew

I’m a digital marketing operator based in Sacramento, CA. I help brands turn marketing spend into measurable revenue.

Mathew Tran

I came into digital marketing through e-commerce. YouTube videos got me into Amazon FBA as a side hustle, that pulled me into paid media, and I haven’t looked back. The two go hand in hand and I’ve worked both sides ever since.

What I like about this work is that it’s measurable. You ship something, the numbers move or they don’t, and you know within a week if you’re actually pulling levers. That’s why I’m in it. The work I’m proudest of, the AAE turnaround, the One Day Doors and Closets dealer recruitment funnel, the Drip n’ Dip 5x, all came from the same place: figure out what’s broken, build the system, watch the numbers.

Here’s what I actually believe about this work. The job is making money or saving money. Building systems that do that is what matters. Pretty ads and eloquent copy don’t, unless they’re moving the number.

I write marketing copy that’s effective, not copy that sounds nice in a deck. I build funnels with substance, not 1M-impression campaigns that pull a 0.6x ROAS. I deploy automations with real ROI, not novelty. I came up as a business owner before I was a marketer, and I learned early that there’s a meaningful difference between a campaign that looks good in a report and one that pays the rent. I build for the second one.

My background

I started running paid media at TNT Marketing in 2019, cutting my teeth on Meta, Google, and Amazon ads for small business clients across Sacramento. From there I moved to One Day Doors and Closets, where I managed $30K+ monthly media budgets across 15 home improvement dealership accounts and led a B2B initiative that brought in qualified franchise leads at $5 CPL.

In 2024 I took on the e-commerce and marketing manager role at African American Expressions, the world’s largest Black-owned gift and greeting card company. In my first year I drove 70% YoY Amazon revenue growth, lifted conversion rate from under 2% to over 6%, and built a B2B fundraising funnel that cut CPL from $7 to $1 and increased catalog requests roughly 1000%.

Alongside the W2 work, I’ve been an operator. In early 2024 I acquired Drip n’ Dip, a struggling Sacramento candy business, to keep a family-owned business from closing. Over 18 months I scaled monthly revenue 5x and built a wholesale channel from zero. That work is winding down in Q2 2026 as I transition ownership and focus on my career in digital marketing.

I’m Google Ads certified across every track, work natively with Shopify, Klaviyo, GA4, Helium 10, and Looker Studio, and I’ve been deploying AI automations into marketing operations since well before it was a resume bullet.
